Dental Sedation, Halifax Dentist

Easing Your Dental Anxiety

Dental anxiety often leads people to avoid receiving the dental care they need. This inevitably leads to small issues becoming more severe. If this sounds like you, there are options to help alleviate anxiety associated with dental care.

Dental sedation can help to increase the pain threshold, reduce the gag reflex, and also make time seem to pass by more quickly. Dental sedation is also used to help you stay comfortable during long or complex procedures.

At Clayton Park Dental we offer Nitrous Oxide as a sedation method. Laughing gas allows our patients to remain as comfortable as possible throughout their visit.

We want to assure you that we will do everything we can to help make your visit with us a relaxed and comfortable experience. If you feel nervous about visiting the dentist, contact us to learn more about dental sedation and how we can help you feel more comfortable visiting our office.

Why Use Nitrous Oxide?

Nitrous oxide, better known as laughing gas, is used in the dental office for its calming effects. It is administered through a small mask that covers the patient's nose. Patients who have trouble breathing through their nose may be better off abstaining from nitrous use.

Nitrous oxide is considered safe and effective. It is easy to take and its effects are mild. During your procedure, you will remain conscious and will be able to communicate with our team.

Once your procedure is complete the effects wear off fairly quickly, but you will still need a friend or family to drive you home from your appointment.

Helping Patients Relax Without Sedation

Dental sedation may not be right for every patient which is why we offer alternatives to help ease dental anxiety.

Our dentists take pride in helping Halifax patients minimize anxiety by employing a number of calming techniques. We work at your pace, explain each step, allow breaks when you need them, and provide reassurance throughout treatment.
